Last night the season finale of Newlyweds: The First Year culminated with a Watch What Happens Live reunion. I was thrilled all the couples survived their first year of marriage and still seem committed to their unions. As I watched these newlyweds navigate their first year of not-so-wedded-bliss, the floodgates on my own newlywed year burst open. Like them, I was in for a VERY rude awakening 14 years ago.

I can admit I’m gulity of a little of treadmill dancing now and again. In fact, on most days I work that treadmil like a runway. However I have nothing on this guy!
Its such a surreal experience to see yourself on national TV… even though I severely wish for a “Crtl+Atl+Delete” at times, I did love every second. And the best part…I look nothing like that anymore. Even more, if I think about the mindset I had while filming, the relationship I had with food and physical activity, it does lend credibilty to the thought “Mind over Matter”.

I just want to reflect on how life changing these last few weeks has been.
Not only am I embracing a healthier lifestyle, I have never felt better! I’m more focused, more confident, and ready to embrace my dreams. I’m still reeling that I had a chance to meet one of my personal heroes, Ricki Lake!! I’ve loved her since Cry Baby, and I will love her forever for being fearless and a role model to all the girls living on the curvier side of life. WEEK 4 – 14lbs lost
I finally did it. I reached the dreaded plateau. I worked my butt out all week and outside of my wedding cake tasting (yum!) ate really healthy. In theory I did everything I was suppose to, so why in the H-E-Double Hocky Sticks didn’t I lose any weight this week?
Believe me, I’m still scratching my head. My dear and wonderful finance who is supporting me on the journey to living better cut soda out of his diet (something we both did) and now has a six pack. *looks down at own belly and sees no abs* Jigga What?!? )

That’s my generic response when most people ask me how the baby is doing. For starters, I get this questions 7 or 8 times a day from friends, family member and acquaintances — and am just wondering, is there a better way to answer this?
How much should I share — Pre-baby, whenever someone would go on about their kids, my eyes and my soul would glaze over with boredom. Now I could on for hours about my lil guy — actually I got a good 45 minute limit before my pre-baby DNA kicks in and tells me to shut the hell up. But really, do my co-workers really want to hear that Lewis is balding so crazy it looks like a reverse mullet or that he chews on his hand all day like its an Olympic sport? Continue reading

Think less like a flower, and more like a prepubescent 13 year old boy. It’s about to get a little TMI in here, but I am one stinky lady!

I didn’t think it would be possible but this week is actually tougher than last week. I’m in the process of detoxing my body off its sugar and carb dependency and I REALLY miss waffles…and steak. In fact, my secret fantasy is a steak and waffle sandwich with a mash potato drizzle and a box of bacon flavored chocolate for dessert. YUM.
